Want to shape the instructors of the future?

It's time to think about becoming a PADI Staff Instructor!

We recommend that you undertake your PADI Staff Instructor course alongside an IDC, giving you the chance to participate by teaching and evaluating real instructor candidates under the supervision of a Course Director. You will be able to build on your mentoring and counselling skills by supporting instructor candidates through their course and Instructor Exam. Alternatively, you can take days of 1-1 training with a Course Director to complete the course with simulated teaching presentations.

After qualifying, you can independently teach candidates up to Assistant Instructor, and assist on further IDCs alongside a Course Director.

OK, I'm ready. What's it going to cost?

The PADI Staff Instructor Course costs £499.

Potential additional costs include:

  • PADI fees
  • Travel and accommodation (varies by location)

When and Where will the Staff Instructor Course run?

IDC Option (recommended)

Taking your PADI Staff Instructor course alongside one of our IDCs will give you the opportunity for lots of hands on teaching experience. We can offer three different locations:

(image + UK) (image + Seychelles) (image + Dahab)

Our current calendar is:

  • July 2010 - UK
  • August 2010 - Seychelles
  • September 2010 - Dahab
  • April 2011 - Dahab
This course will run for 9 days alongside the IDC, plus optionally 2 days if you want to join the candidates at the IE. In addition, you will need to attend a day of orientation training prior to the IDC.

1-1 Training Option

This course will run for 5 days at a time to suit both you and the Course Director. Please call us on 01344 454245 to discuss dates.

What's involved in the PADI Staff Instructor Course?

The PADI Staff Instructor Course will focus on three key areas:

  • Teaching you how to independently teach the PADI Assistant Instructor Course
  • How to evaluate and counsel Instructor Candidates
  • Gaining a fuller understanding of the PADI philosophy, particularly for Instructor Candidates

Course Structure

The course begins with an introductory full day orientation lecture, covering course philosophy and the PADI Assistant Instructor program.

If you take the IDC route, you will assist throughout a full IDC. You will be assessing and evaluating real Instructor candidates during Confined and Open Water training sessions, as well as presenting curriculum modules. Throughout the course, you will need to demonstrate role model behaviour during teaching presentations and provide general assistance to the Course Director.

If you take the 1-1 route, after your orientation lecture, you will spend 4 days presenting the complete Assistant Instructor program to the Course Director. This includes all teaching lectures and simulated teaching sessions for both Confined and Open Water.

Course Materials

Your PADI Staff Instructor course fee includes the following course materials:

  • Course Director Manual
  • Evaluation Slates: Open Water and Confined

You will also need all the materials from your PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Course, including your Instructor Candidate Workbook.

PADI Staff Instructor opens new opportunities for PADI Professionals.
