How do you take a subject like accident prevention and management and turn it into fun? Call it the PADI Rescue Diver program!

The PADI Rescue Diver program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. The program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver. PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI leadership programs.

To get into the PADI Rescue Diver program, you'll need to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver  (or equivalent) and must be at least 15 years old. The PADI Junior Rescue Diver program is available if you're between the ages of 12 and 14 and hold a PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver or Advanced (or equivalent) rating.

You'll also need to have successfully completed the Emergency First Response Program or a sanctioned program in CPR within the past two years. The PADI Rescue Diver program covers:

Perhaps the most fun diving course you will ever experience

Diary of a Rescue Diver Student

Where's BOB?                        ëFound Bob yet' Barry asked.                         ëNope' replied Martin                             ëProbably hungry by now' Marnie added

Its 8:40 Sunday morning and BOB had been missing since 4pm Saturday. Everyone was relaxed as we prepared for day 2 of the Rescue course and everyone was just kicking back, discussing the disappearance of BOB before the day began.  In truth BOB was a crate wrapped in red wet suite material, anchored by dive weights. BOB had been dropped into Horsea island water for the Rescue trainees to find.  Part of the Rescue course, trainees had to conduct an underwater search to reclaim BOB. Sadly with my compass skills it took us 2 days. As I head towards Dive Master, the Rescue course has taught me that I will need to improve my stamina, concentration and leadership skills.  Mind you, thanks to repeated rescue simulation, I can now undress any diver either underwater, on the surface or on land in double quick time, something, I will always find essential in the day job, or on the school run or just shopping at Tesco's !  Joking aside, Rescue improves dive confidence and ensures you know what to do in adverse conditions.

RescueEAN Pod

The RescuEAN pod is a lifesaving aid for the diver finding themselves in a situation where an oxygen kit is unavailable, already being used or exhausted and it has been designed for use with a dive accident patient whether conscious, semi-conscious or unconscious. The pod is easily recognisable and is light and compact enough to be carried always. It is simple to use as is connects directly to the rescue diver's Nitrox cylinder low pressure hose once removed from a BCD or dry suit. The launch price will be £89.95 saving £15 off the RRP.
