Ready for the next adventure?

PADI's Advanced Open Water Diver program will introduce you to new experiences and adventures, under the guidance of a PADI instructor. With a range of different dives to choose from, the Advanced Open Water course has something for everyone. What are you waiting for?
You can complete your Advanced Open Water course either in the UK, or on one of our Divecrew Holidays. The course price includes all course materials and PADI registration, and hire of your kit (UK option).
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course runs on a regular basis in the UK, with up to six courses running every year. Please check our Diving Course Schedule page for the latest dates and availability.
We usually run the Advanced Course either at Vobster, Stoney Cove or Portland. The course is run over two days, with one or two nights in a local guest house.
Take your Advanced Open Water course in the warm waters on one of our regular holiday trips, which almost every month. The most popular option is to join one of our Red Sea trips, led by one or more of our Instructors. Please see our Diving Holidays Page for the latest dates and availability.
To become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, you will need to complete five dives. For each dive that you do, you will also need to read a chapter in the Adventures in Diving manual (included in the price of the course) and complete a short Knowledge Review.
Your instructor will go through your Knowledge Reviews with you before your dive, and talk about anything you're not sure on. We usually run a short evening session at the dive centre before the course for this, also giving you the chance to meet your Instructor and new dive buddies.
Deep Dive
By descending deeper than 18m, you will begin to appreciate the differences involved in deep diving, and discover how you react with the safety of direct instructor supervision. We will also introduce you to the use of Pony and Stage Tanks, and give you a chance to try using the equipment yourself as an added extra.
Underwater Navigation
You already learned how to use a compass on your Open Water course, and now you can build on these skills by navigating with a buddy a straight line and reciprocal, as well as a square.
Depending on the location of your course, you may be able to choose from a selection of dives to complete your Advanced Open Water course. You will need to complete three dives from the following list:
When you take your Advanced Open Water course with Divecrew, we will also throw in some added extras to maximise the value that you get from the course. These can include:
If you're aged from 12-14 years old, you can do the five dives to become a Junior Advanced Open Water diver. This qualifies you to dive to a depth of up to 21m. Your Deep Dive will be no deeper than 21m.
As a younger Junior Open Water Diver, you will only be able to participate in some of the dives, which will allow you to earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification. You can then progress on to completing your Junior Advanced Open Water diver by completing a Deep Dive and one other adventure dive when you are 12 years old.
Dives that you can do:
Once you've completed your Advanced Open Water course, you will be qualified to dive with a buddy to depths up to 30m. This means you can join even more of our UK pleasure dives as well as holidays abroad. The Adventure is just around the corner ...
