Many people ask what we stand for or who we feel we are -
I feel that the following sums up Divecrew in two words and is in fact at the very centre or soul of Divecrew
Dear Collin
I just wanted to thank you and your instructors for very thorough and consistent approaches to teaching and learning whilst I have undertaken my PADI Open Water Course. I feel very lucky that I could undertake the first part of the course locally, top up with some one to one sessions, and then by participating in one of your excellent holidays – complete my learning in very pleasant, warm surroundings and with good company.
Our course group was mixed bunch – people and ages – yet I think you got the best out of each of us. Even when afraid – and it can be a bit scary at times – everyone was supportive and encouraging – so that I could become proficient. I won’t hesitate to recommend the team to anyone who wants to learn to dive. I think I’m hooked! Now Wraysbury is calling – so when can I book onto the Dry Suit course?
Thanks again – to Terry, Neil, Jan, Duncan & co – and of course to you
with best wishes
Karen Carline

Collin,
Thank you for organising the final dives for my advanced with Martin. As you may know already, the water temperature was a cool 3ºC, however, I was quite happy with that, as it proved to me that I will enjoy diving in the cold UK winter, as well as in sunnier climes. Martin allowed me to keep the knowledge reviews for me to take copies before handing them over to you, so I will drop them all off this week along with a couple of passport size photo’s to enable you to finalise the paperwork.
I would just like to say that Martin was great on the day, a very attentive knowledgeable instructor as well as a thoroughly nice guy. He gave me some great advice which I will take on board and am sure will make me a far better diver. I now plan to practice & hone the skills I have been taught over these past months by regular UK diving, so to that end, I will be in contact to book as many of the club weekend dives that you have listed on the website.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time diving with Divecrew and that has solely been due to the friendly & supportive nature of the people I have met thus far. I very much intend to continue increasing my diving experiences with Divecrew. My next equipment purchase will be a DSMB, when I drop off the reviews I will have a look at what you have available and would suggest.
See you soon.
Kind regards,

Ivor,
Just wanted to drop a quick line to you after getting back from a fantastic week’s diving in Marsa Alam.
I got a few comments along the lines of “you must have had a really strict instructor!” – do accolades for instructors get any better than that
Many thanks for all your help in getting going with diving, hope to see you around soon.
Best regards

Hi Collin,
Many thanks for such a well organized session last night from the guys- I passed too!
See you soon, maybe in for some last minute shopping before we go to the Maldives!

Hi Collin,
Thanks for organising to send my new tank to Stoney Cove, very much appreciated. As you know this was my first experience at Stoney Cove and it was a great day, John was excellent on the day, he was very informative, obviously knows the site extremely well and we had two very good dives with lots to see, I look forward to diving with him again at another UK site.
Kind regards,

Morning Tina & Colin
Just wanted to thank you to both of you and John for all your help, encouragement and most of all patience over the last couple of weekends, though I’m sure you could have quite happily strangle me !!!!
Last night was a bit of a light bulb moment and things were so much easier when my feet weren’t trying to come to the surface before my head.
I’m now far more confident about the open water dives and dare I say looking forward to it .
Again thanks for all your help
See you soon
Kaye

Hi Collin,
Just a quick note to say a huge thank you for all your help over the past few weeks. I am thrilled to now be PADI qualified and if I can ever get over the frostbite, I may even dive again in the UK! …Who am I kidding…I will more then likely become an ‘over seas’ diver – I’m sure there is some in-house terminology for such wimps!
The instructors were superb. All were professionally competent and personally likable which offers the best combination all round. They have left me feeling very comfortable about diving on our holidays, and given their emphasis on safety, I feel I could manage most hairy situations should they arise!
I am sending you in a passport pic (hideous but a must!) – its for my PADI card as the one I had yesterday was too small,
Cheerio

Stopped by but as you were not around I thought I’d drop you a note.
Just to say thanks for your training and your input into our dive training. Mitch and I had a great time in El Gouna and our instructor there was most complementary about our level of training and skill.
We passed the open water section without any problem and he specifically asked us to pass on his comments as to the high standard we had reached.
We really enjoyed the time with Emperor Divers and would recommend them for their relaxed but very professional approach, we felt as confident with them as we had with Divecrew.
The Movenpick Hotel was also very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and capable.
Unfortunately Josh had quite serious stomach problems out there and needed hospital treatment but we were very pleased with the support and treatment from both the hotel, Emperor, Regaldive and the local hospital, they all did everything they could to help and he recovered well.
All in all a nice part of Egypt to visit with the marine life and the people being the highlights
Again, thanks for your input
regards
Chris and Mitch Gebbie

Hi Colin,
I would like to thank you for the fantastic weekend in Wraysbury, the Divecrew trainers Ivor, Tim, Steve, Katherine , George and of course our ground support. They were all great.
Looking forward to the next great weekend.

Hi Collin,
On Sunday I completed the last of my confined water dives with Martin Weddell as my instructor and he said that I should send my feedback as a student to you, so here it is. I found Martin to be a brilliant instructor, I was quite nervous before my first lesson, but he remained calm and relaxed which helped me to do the same. He was clear with instructions and helped me with tasks I found challenging (such as taking my mask off under water). Martin did a great job teaching me and overall I found all of the other instructors that I met on the course to be friendly and encouraging. I really enjoyed learning to dive and can’t wait to continue!
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Kaul

I would particularly like to say how good Katherine was as a TDM, she was my buddy for both days, she was was always very calm and instilled confidence.

Hi Collin, thanks again to Divecrew for a great weekend. Despite the poor visibility John & I achieved our goals, to make our first UK dives and for John to combat his diving reservations after his panic attack in Borneo.
Martin was the key to our success this weekend; he is patient and a professional dive instructor. Martin encourages self awareness and encourages you to believe in your ability to achieve the tasks; he does this by being supportive, encouraging and never being negative. For instance, for John following his negative experience in Borneo actually getting in the water again for the purpose of scuba diving was a ‘big deal’. John is very stubborn and if he decides not to do something there is no changing his mind! However, for Martin to interact with John bearing in mind we had only had a brief meeting in Borneo and a few emails after is proof of his capabilities as a dive instructor and as a person.
We are looking forward to further activities with DiveCrew; we are limited due to our responsibilities with our animals, but be assured we would choose DiveCrew without a doubt for any courses, holidays or just diving days.
I must not forget Katherine who dived with us on Saturday at Wraysbury, please thank her for her help and wish her luck with her training. She was also very supportive and a lovely girl who will no doubt achieve her goals.
My only complaint Collin is the ‘water was too b******cold’ – who ever persuaded us to dive UK, we always maintained that we would be warm water divers. John says the only time he goes to a lake is to fish it not to swim in it!!!
I think Martin has mentioned it to you already, please put us down for the Marsa trip 2012.
Once again many thanks to DiveCrew, you have a great team and everyone we met over the weekend associated with the club were friendly and welcoming.
Best Regards
Jane & John Meale.

Hi Collin,
Just a quick note to let you know how fantastic Tim, Terry, Penny, Mark and Emma were last weekend.
Tim – very clear, concise and definite with his instructions and demonstrations. Friendly and relaxed manner… Made what could have been a stressful weekend a lot more fun than expected.
Terry – fun as always. Excellent feedback to students whether positive or negative.
Penny – very friendly and reassuring. Played the panicked diver very well indeed!
Mark – very realistic with the scenarios, fantastic pointers and feedback from him.
Emma – really lovely lass. Approachable, friendly and made us feel at ease straight away.
I really was nervous about the course, but realise now I shouldn’t have been. By far most rewarding course I’ve done so far… I’m still buzzing and can’t wait to continue our training!
Credit to you Collin… You have a fantastic team and I’m so pleased to be a part of divecrew!

Hi Collin,
Thought John might like some feedback on Sunday’s course. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and Mike says after making such a mess on his Open Water Course in Egypt on buoyancy he’s now got his confidence back so thank you.
We’ll be back next Sunday practising some more, we returned your call yesterday and spoke to Terry (I think) and organised it with him.

Hi Colin,
Gemma and I really enjoyed the open water course and Martin has been a great instructor. I particularly wanted to say thank you to Jan and Mary too, they were so supportive and helpful. Gemma has needed some extra hand holding, especially yesterday in the pool when the dry suit was posing some issues. Mary was great with her.
So thank you to Martin, Jan and Mary, what a great team!

Good day Colin
Just wanted to say thanks to the guys for the training – not only was it made fun, it was done professionally too. When Laura couldn’t equalise at one stage probably because of the hood, it all got a bit much for her, and she was treated so well and considerately, and she completed the session in the end (i believe with Steve). Thank you.
It was cold and perhaps not the best time to be hanging around under water getting even colder, but we got there.
i am interested in more experiences but i felt the ppb course would be better once i had my own gear ?
Training means alot of hanging around and that is a cold thing to do when the water is only 8/9 degrees. I am not going to be able to make the fist course in January due to business travel, but would like to do it at some stage.
Ivor made a very valid comment – although we have passed the test, we are lacking experience. In the new year, i want to get a few more regular dives in and would be interested in going anywhere with anyone that is prepared to have 2 inexperienced divers come along (Laura & myself).
with kind regards Simon

Hello Collin
- Course: we are happy we did the course as we believe it has improved our diving skills and with practice, we will continue to improve our buoyancy.
- Instructor: We wouldn’t have done the course with Divecrew if Martin wouldn’t have been the instructor. We find very easy to work with him… .hopefully it is reciprocal!
and we think he is very good at teaching and keeping us focused making it fun at the same time. During the course as always, he made sure we understood what he wanted us to achieve and he explained all steps before getting into the water which made the experience enjoyable. Martin is also a good listener, which is key in training / teaching and he is interested in the students’ experience rather than just going through the motions
News Page: We have had a look at your entry for our PPB course and the photos look great. We think your website is fantastic, I am sure it takes a lot of effort to update all the photos from everyone and write captions! Thank you for putting an entry about us! It feels great.
Vobster: the e-mail from Martin detailing where Vobster was and their facilities was great. Because he told us where we would be diving, we checked that against the map we had from you so when we got there, we had an idea of how it looked. Great information as always from Martin. It shows he is thinking about things from the student’s point of view. Thank you
Cristina and Phil

Hi Colin,
Thanks for your email. Myself and John had a great experience at the weekend and although it was very challenging and demanding at times it brought with it great rewards and a sense of achievement that will no doubt live with us for a long time.
Please say thank you to everybody involved from Divecrew for their patients and professionalism throughout. Geoff and all the team really encouraged and supported all the students and, for me personally, gave me belief i could overcome my struggle with confidence, particularly on the first day. For that i shall always be grateful. It was a great thing to do and we hope the start of a long and exciting diving career!
To Jo, Michelle, Steve, the 2 Marks, Chris, James, anyone else i’ve missed and last but not least to Geoff (what a fantastic teacher he is!) – I thank you all and hope to see you again in the future.
We will give the PPB course a miss but thanks for the offer. We start our adventures (as qualified SCUBA divers!) in January in Australia and depending on how that goes we hope to return to Divecrew for the Advanced Open Water Course, probably in Spring/Summer next year. Please continue to send us information on courses and dates though so we can plan around them.
We will send you the knowledge reviews for the Dry Suit Speciality in the coming days when we get chance to complete them along with our donations for Project Aware UK.
Bye for now and best regards,
Dave Simmons.

IIt would be difficult for me to collect as I work in London and don’t finish until 6-7pm, I did want to pop down to the social on Tuesday but I think I will be busy doing my holiday prep and finding someone to feed the cat n fish..I spose I could feed the cat to the fish or the fish to the cat!.
Anyway thanks for your help and I look forward to the info.

Just wanted to say thank you to Terry, Matt & Jan for a great weekend and to say the guys were excellent in the way they approached and carried out the training.
We all progress at different levels and they pitched it just right with plenty of humor and laughs along the way, which made it easier.
I felt very safe in their hands and will certainly recommend Dive Centre to anybody I know that is thinking of learning to dive.
I am off to Spain next week and hoping to put into practice what I have learnt.
Many thanks to everybody at the dive centre.

Dear Martin,
Thank you for this message and let me say that it was a pleasure to do the weekend course with you.
Personally I found it hard and not what I would call an “enjoyable” weekend in the sense of the word, but it wasn’t as cold nor wet as I thought. However you gave us a lot of support .. especially considering all my questions and having had to repeat the CESA twice. Thank you Martin.
I have nice memories of the weekend and a sense of achievement, mainly because I know you wouldn’t have let us get away with anything and I praise your professionalism and your enthusiasm.
I thought your hand signals were fabulous which when I think about it, is one of the key things under water. Yours were very clear and paused. I also thought you controlled the group under water fantastically aided by the very good Alan, Mark and Emma.
I am very happy with having done the course with you at Wraysbury, you are confident and firm but also a good personality to get us all as a group going and enjoying the experience – thank you for your continued patient with me and hope to dive again with you
Regards, Cristina

Hi Collin
Elliot and I had a great time and we are delighted to be qualified divers with a dry suit speciality. Our thanks go especially to Martin for his great teaching skills and patience which enabled us to meet the course requirements Also thanks to Alan, Emma and Mark for their excellent support and direction (down and up!).
We will bring in our Dry Suit knowledge reviews this week in order to complete the Dry Suit documentation and also pay the air fill charge.
A peak performance buoyancy course is definitely something we would like to do in future but probably not until next year as I am completing a module for my MSc course in mid-November and there is a load of pre-reading to do before then.
See you later this week.
Regards
David & Elliot
P.S. Martin, thanks for the photos.

Thank you for sending these to me so quickly I shall forward them to Spain and take a pack with me
I was very pleased to have completed the course and am grateful for you and Tim for fitting in my course ( and accommodating last night) prior to my visit to Spain next week.
I enjoyed the course and thought your organisation was v professional and friendly. All the Divers I met in the pools were helpful and friendly and would encourage me to consider coming on the holidays with you all
I must give a special mention re Tim whom I thought was an outstanding teacher. Very patient and a good demonstrator and also had it not been for him encouraging me to continue on the Sunday I would not have completed the course so do pass on my thanks to him.
Thank you for your leaflet ( good marketing!) and I will be in touch on my return from Spain ( assuming all goes well there!!) to at least do a Splash Back if not more.
Thanks again

Hi Terry,
Hope you got home ok this morning!
Thank you so much for making sure we had a fantastic holiday in Dahab! We both really enjoyed ourselves and felt we really made the most of the people around us to help learn and develop our skills… as you said we are divers now!!!!
You mentioned that you would let me know if you would be in the shop this weekend as we’d like to pop in and chat with you about courses we should book ourselves onto. We’d both like a clear plan of the courses we should be doing with a view to achieving Rescue Diver or Master Scuba Diver status in the next 12 months.
Also, don’t forget to pencil us in for Marsa next May but only provisionally at this point… need to look at the finances and check we can take the time off work before committing.
Finally, don’t forget to put a D4 cable to one side for me to buy… I really need to start downloading my dives to my PC!
Thanks again! Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Collin
Thank you for organising the Dahab trip – it was the most awesome week I have ever had!!
The boat trip was a fantastic extra and we did our 50th dive on the beautiful Thistlegorm early in the morning. We had the wreck all to ourselves for the first dive…very special…and only ¾ of the way through the second dive, once we had explored all the eerie holds, did we start to spot some other divers swimming around so we were very lucky.
Thanks for letting us use the camera – Craig used it most of the time and it looks like he managed to get some good shots. Will take a look on the laptop tonight! I think we will have to get one.
The Deep Speciality was amazing – especially being at 40m in The Canyon…wow it’s beautiful down there. So peaceful. Thanks to Penny and to Neil for being amazing and for taking us through it all with such ease.
Looking forward to telling you all about it soon – I’m going to be talking about this experience for a long time!
Cheers

Hi Colin,
Just to say a huge thank you for the fantastic event – it really was wonderful and all the children had a complete blast! I was very impressed with Jo and her teaching and of course it was lovely that there were other members there to help out too – poolside and in the water.
I would like Isaac to complete his Padi certificate, but I am unsure how practical this will be over the summer and he has exams in September, so focus will be on that. However, if you could send some dates and we might be able to fit it in on the odd Sunday afternoon.
Again, my sincere thanks go to all the team, it was a very special day for the children and you all helped make it a memorable one.

Hi Martin. I think you know the Hurghada trip was my first warm water diving holiday and for me it was an experience verging on a life changing event! It also enabled me to sharpen up my diving technique and identify small deficiencies in my preparation and kit that I intend to rectify before my next holiday – so next time I should be fully sorted from day 1. I am already Nitrox certified and will purchase a Nitrox enabled dive computer in good time. I imagine you have by now viewed the holiday DVD we purchased from ‘cam man’ – I thought it was rather good and it is going down well with my family and work colleagues too – so money well spent! I will be interested to hear about holiday arrangements for next year as and when details firm up. Bye for now and thanks for your help on the holiday. Regards, Andrew.
Hi Martin
Thanks for the kind comments about our skills and the photos. It was great to go on the trip with you and thanks for being such a calm, patient instructor and a great buddy! I wasn’t sure how I would get on and knew that some of it would be challenging, but you gave me a lot of confidence and it was a joy to find my skills increasing as the week went on. The final dive, gliding over the coral garden, really summed it all up. I guess I’m hooked on diving now! It was also good fun to share the learning curve with Tony and Cherry so maybe we can give ourselves a new challenge next year.
I’m definitely interested in a trip next year so please let me know about any plans. It would also be good to do the nitrox course before that, so perhaps I should liaise with Tony and Cherry and we can arrange a date with you to do that.
If you have a moment it would be good to get a disc of your photos – would help me get to grips with all the fish we saw. Of course i won’t be passing any of them off as my own….
I’ll be popping in to Divecrew this Saturday to hand back some gear so will give Collin lots of feedback
. Thanks again for a great trip,
take care, best wishes

Hi Colin,
I enjoyed the presentation last night – having not yet experienced UK coastal diving it was very interesting and apologies to the lady presenting forgotten her name but I thought she was very good and made it very interesting.
The dry suit course run by Mark on the Saturday was excellent. I was very impressed at the attention to detail at every stage with respect to safety etc. Full site reviews, dive briefing and de-briefing talking through every stage of what took place on the dive. It certainly filled me with the assurance and confidence to pursue further training with DiveCrew!
Likewise with Mark at Vobster, whilst I was not on a training course it did not stop Mark from being extremely helpful and gave me plenty of advice on use of the drysuit, rigging my equipment, and assisted me with some skills practice for example removal of mask & replace during the dive!
Finally – yes I would like to join the trip to the Mulberry. I will print out complete and send the booking form back tomorrow.
Regards,
Peter.
Hello Terry,
Thank you for another great day on Saturday – in addition to the dry suit, I learnt a lot of different things and thoroughly enjoyed myself!
Please also thank Ann and Michelle for me – their patience and time in helping to support us during the course was very much appreciated – they made a great team!

Hello Terry,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you, Nicky, Jan, Geoff, Anne and Neil for making last weekend at Wraysbury a success – your enthusiasm for diving is clear and certainly motivated my soul – I had an absolutely brilliant time!

Thank you all once again – I shall no doubt see you for one of the other courses soon!

Just wanted to pass on my appreciation for all your help with regards the IE last weekend. It was apparent very early on that all six Divecrew candidates were exceptionally well prepared for the event, thanks to your thoroughness and enthusiasm throughout the entire IDC.
As you know I experienced some moments of self-doubt during the course and found it rather more difficult than I was expecting at times. I never felt though that I had to struggle on alone as both yourself and Penny were always able to provide the necessary support and encouragement.
The whole course was great fun and the group’s camaraderie going into the IE was amazing. I’m very glad to have been part of it and also to have been able to contribute personally to your continued 100% pass rate.
I’m looking forward to being part of the ‘blue crew’ and helping Divecrew continue its success story.
All the best
Tim

Hi Collin,
Huge THANK YOU to both you and Penny for all your help and support throughout the IDC and the IE. The course was absolutely superb – I thoroughly enjoyed all of the sessions – and felt really well prepared when we got to the IE, despite the stress level! I think the workshops for the key skills especially helped, and I hope they will also be a real benefit when teaching. Also, I really appreciated Penny’s help on the CESA and rescue skills.
Oh, and the added extras (Easter eggs, personalised mugs, celebrations with champagne and Chinese food, and service with a smile at the IE!) were just the icing on the cake.
I feel really lucky to have been able to complete my training with Divecrew, and especially with such an amazing group, so thanks also to Tina, Geoff, Tim, Mark and Duncan for making it so much fun. I was really proud to be wearing the Divecrew blue at the IE, and I can’t wait to put it all into practice now.
Thanks again,
Jo

Hi Collin
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you to yourself and Penny for all of your help and assistance throughout the IDC and IE.
I have no doubt at all that without the ”Professional Enthusiasm” of Divecrew the whole experience would not have been the same, and who knows what the results might have been.
It was an absolute pleasure working with you through the stresses and strains of the IDC and IE weekend and in fact it was also great fun. Not something I would have expected to say at the beginning of the course. This enthusiasm was also reflected by the fantastic team spirit that built throughout the course culminating in that Formula 1 moment when Mark passed his Physics exam. I am sure that all IDC candidates benefit from such spirit, but from my personal point of view I couldn’t have wished for a better team than Tina, Jo, Mark, Tim and Duncan.
As you know I started on my diving journey with Divecrew back in 2002 with Open Water at Horsea Island and never thought for one moment that I would travel so far down the PADI road and, if it hadn’t been for Terry’s constant encouragement (read nagging), I would probably have stopped at Rescue Diver. I am so pleased that I didn’t.
I am really looking forward to both continuing my diving education, and working with Divecrew to hopefully give a little back to enable future divers to enjoy the experiences that I have had.
Once again, a huge thank you to all of the Divecrew team.
As requested attached are my IDC working sheets and templates I hope that they are of use to you.
Could you also ask Penny if it would be possible for me to get copies of all of the pictures that she took during the IDC to enable me to put together a couple of albums of my own.
See you all soon.
Regards
Geoff

quite a challenge for the instructors but he was determined he worked hard
and persevered and thay all persevered with him showing great patience and
skill. He had a real crisis of confidence on the Sunday morning but all the
Divecrew team rallied round and saw him through it. I also had a my own
crisis getting very very cold at one point and Jo and Mark in particular
looked after me brilliantly.
We are both thrilled to have got through and Oscar is especially pleased
with himself and is keen to get on with some more diving. We are off to the
Bahamas at the end of May (so keen am I to avoid any more hypothernic
episodes!) and already have some diving arranged with friends out there,
but we would be keen to do some more diving with Divecrew over the school
summer holidays if possible.
With best wishes
Sharon

Hi Collin,
Thank you for spending time with me last night to go through the formal induction process for the TDM programme. Everything made sense and whilst it will take time to let all the information become second nature, I’m really looking forward to the whole experience!
See you in the shop and in the pool as often as I can.

Hi Collin
A fabulous presentation last night for the Photography Specialty, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It would certainly seem that none of your suggestions to improve my photos were wasted as I was very surprised at the results from the pool session that followed. Interesting that only a few simple changes can make such a big difference. Thank you.

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note to thank Terry for letting me turn up at such short notice for Monday’s Nitrox course.
I called on the offchance that I could join a course running later in the day and was really amazed that you had the crew-kit to hand and that Terry would let his class increase in size at short notice.
I started diving in 1988 and enjoyed it so much that I took every class going until I took my IDE and Medic First Aid Instructor exam in 1992. I never did get the time to train more than a few people, but I still love diving. Terry is obviously a real enthusiast and the rest of the class, who he knew and must have trained before have been bitten too.
I feel very happy to practise my new skill safely, that those he trained are also proficient and that finding your facility is something it has taken far too long to do.
Please pass on my thanks to Terry, who also pointed out that you can get me back into active membership instead of my current non-teaching status! I feel an EFR, EFRI and refresher coming on!!
All the best,
John

Hi Penny,
I just wanted to pass on my thanks to everyone at Dive Crew who have supported me throughout my Open Water course, particular thanks must go to Tina who was my buddy for much of the course, and of course Terry who led the course. I couldn’t have done it without the support of both of them.
To anyone who is thinking about doing the Open Water course, I would thoroughly recommend doing it over the 5 weeks as it’s a lot of information to take in at once and it allows you to go away, mull it over and then come back with any questions!.
My next logged dives will be on the Great Barrier Reef in a couple of weeks time, then I’m hoping to swim with seals in the Farne Isles and then possibly dive in Egpyt with one of the Dive Crew holidays. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be planning these things if it wasn’t for Tina and Terry and the support and training that they have given me.
Thank you both for your help, and I hope to bring back some cool photos from the Great Barrier Reef.
Kindest regards,
Felicity

I wanted to pass on my thanks to all involved at Divecrew for their enthusiastic professionalism when helping out on my Divemaster course.
It has been by far the most enjoyable and engaging course I have taken and has really benefited me, during what has been a rather testing time over the past few months.
I would especially like to thank Terry for admirably performing his duties as mentor; his patience when explaining the technical bits, his willingness and ability to answer my frequent questions.
Thanks too to Barry, Martin, Stuart, Ivor and Nicky who allowed me to assist on their various courses and whose assessments contributed to my success.
Special thanks however go to Penny whose continued nagging and culinary wizardry ensured that I remained both focussed on the course, and well fed! What more does a guy need?!?
It feels good to be part of the team. Now… where’s that green shirt?

Just to let you know I have passed the Confined water and Knowledge parts of the course, so need to book for the Open Water dives
To let you know that Martin was a superb instructor, he went through all the skills in great details and helped me on the parts I was struggling with
Can I also say a big thanks to, I believe it was Tim, who was also “instructing” as part of his Divemasters course, he gave me great confidence
If at all possible I would really like to do my Open Water Dives with both of them

Hi Collin,
Thank you very much for your time and effort that you put into the IDC last week. I appreciate the feedback you have given me and I’ll certainly will try and put it into practise. I also looked up the depleted air / out of air swim and the standards specifically state that the air must be switched off until the alternate air source is acquired (good lesson learnt yesterday). I will certainly make sure I do it going forward.
Thanks again

I wanted to give you some feedback on Martin Weddell who I thought was excellent. In the classroom, he had a fantastic way of listening, understanding and helping which made the final test much easier to understand. In the pool, he and Neil were also brilliant. They were both patient and took time to explain the required competencies before going in and then clearly demonstrated these in the pool. The time in the water flew by and it was a great learning experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending Dive Crew to others wanting to learn to dive.
I look forward to receiving the paperwork shortly.

I’m still reeling from the shock of having got my Open Water Diver qualification – I think Terry is too! But just wanted to say thanks to Terry for putting us all at ease and being such good fun – oh, and a good instructor (must say that or he’ll ask for his money back), to Chris for being so clear and thorough in his pre- and post-dive briefings (I was just going to put ‘in his briefs’ but thought that might be misinterpreted…..) and to Dan, Mark, Debbie and Nicky for giving their time, patience and enthusiasm (I asked Nicky if they were all masochists or real enthusiasts and she replied that sometimes she wasn’t too sure ……). Anyway, you’re all heroes in my eyes because somehow, and against all odds, you got me through my Open Water Diver. So many thanks and hope the experience hasn’t left any of you scarred – mentally or physically.
Many thanks (for the warm under suit and tape – nearly asphyxiated but didn’t get wet) and best wishes,

The list of thanks is long, but a special mention should go to Terry, Penny and yourself, along with Tina and Steve and Neil. A snail could have qualified faster than me, but then life does get in the way, so I must also thank Jason, Martin, Ginny, Alan, James and Elliot for their help over the last 3 years.
It has been a challenging experience but above all a positive and rewarding qualification to have attained. So this high maintenance diver is now planning his assault on the AI programme!

Hi Penny,
I just wanted to express my thanks for an excellent experience with your team in Farnborough last night. The guys who gave us our try dive were very professional, friendly, patient and helpful which made it a great night for us. My partner ended up being totally fine with it and didn’t have any kind of claustrophobia with the equipment.
We are heading out to Florida in a couple of weeks and will likely do another try dive there, and depending on how that goes we may well be back in touch to book up the course.
Thanks again

Hi Collin,
I wanted to say thank you to you and your team for all your help on Sunday, it was a demanding day but I really enjoyed it. I’m sorry not to have written earlier, however I have been forced to take some time off as the pain I was experiencing was as a result of an ear infection.
Please can you pass on my thanks to your team they were brilliant – Penny especially in giving up her time, I really appreciated it and was so lucky that you were in the pool that day otherwise I would not have been able to complete the course. Please can you also thank Kelly as on the 1st Sunday I was struggling with the mask clear and she was very patient and went through it with me a couple of times to be sure I had it right. She will be a fab instructor!!

Just wanted to say thank you to Divecrew for the Open Water Referral course that you did for my daughter Francesca back in January. She really enjoyed it, and we had a great time in Sharm El Sheikh over half-term where she completed the open water dives very happily. She just received her Junior OW card from PADI.
The rest of us also moved on from Open Water to Adventure Diver, but ran out of holiday before we could complete the 5 dives needed for Advanced OW. (We did Underwater Naturalist, Drift Diver and Deep Diver – I think that we will aim to finish it off with Underwater Navigation and Wreck Diver early this summer, and I hope that we can do this with Divecrew.)
By the way, when are you next running a Dry Suit course? We probably ought to get that sorted out before doing anything else here in the UK, but we obviously missed the March course. Anything planned for April or May?

From the first day of the Open water Course I have been told that the Rescue Diver course was the best speciality. Well it was tremendous but I am afraid it was eclipsed last weekend by the Wreck Speciality. James dropping out at the last minute because of the injury to his elbow didn’t bode well for the weekend but once the course was underway I have to say I was like a school kid – so excited and challenged. The viz on the Countess was awful and when Martin and I reached the bottom of the shot line we both thought ‘what wreck, where?’ but slowly we became acclimatised. I have to say the weekend was made by Andrew Rampton ably assisted by Tim Flockhart. I was buddied with Andrew for most of the course and Dive 1 on the second day rates as probably the best dive I have undertaken in UK waters. After doing some work on deploying and swimming a line on the outside of the wreck we just swam slowly over and around the wreck looking at detail. It was really enjoyable and time just slowed, air consumption went down and hovering just inches over the deck was tremendous.
I learned so much, not just when we were on the wreck but on the dive boat and during briefings and de-briefings. Great company but penetrating the wreck was awesome, I had absolute confidence in Andrew’s abilities and going into the hold in a silt out was unbelievable, but a deep breathe and then onwards. I had absolute confidence in Andrew’s abilities and it was rewarded with what for me was a great achievement of swimming through nil viz and getting out safely and then doing it all again this time with me in the lead – great. While Martin did his penetration I went on a great swim around the wreck with Tim.
Well hovering with light and reel is another challenge I have passed – hovering and writing on a slate needs some work – I think it is the low quality pencils, or an underwater Blackberry might be good!
People knock specialities but I have to say I wouldn’t want to penetrate a wreck without the experience of being taught by experts.”
Richard
Hi Collin,

Hi Collin
Just wanted to say thanks for organising the Deep Dive Training weekend at Stony Cove over the weekend. Terry, Mark, Kelly and Ian were really helpful and made the weekend.
The diving was very good and suitably challenging in places. I am now a proud owner of another PADI specialism and am looking forward to better dive times ahead. Diving with my ‘livewire’ buddy Jo was great, and made all the more of a laugh, as we became the diving ‘paparazzi’ of Stoney for the weekend. We were banned from using our cameras on subsequent dives which, in hindsight was a wise move ! A special mention must be made to Terry who took the time to remind me what I had learnt in the past but had forgotten. Thanks

Hi Penny
Haven’t had a chance to drop in with Cara since we got back from Sharm but I wanted to let you know how she got on. Cara passed her open water on her first day in Sharm – so thank you for your support when she did her referral. They decided that the combination of her scuba diver certification from last year and her referral done by you meant that she only had to do 2 dives to complete her open water. She did both of these off the House Reef which was middle garden on day one and was then set for the holiday
Cara then went on to do a lot of diving during the holiday:- she managed to dive Far/Fiddle Garden, middle garden, Ras Mohammed and Tiran a couple of times. On Tiran one of her dive instructors was so confident in her diving that he took her to hang in the blue off the back of Jackson reef for hammerheads! The highlight of her trip was seeing a hammerhead pass within 1.5 metres of her and her dive guide – wicked – she got closest out of the whole group and was so excited. She racked up quite a lot of dives for a newly certified OW diver. According to her a dive computer is the next essential holiday item. According to me a babysitter is required so I can do a few deeper dives! I did escape for a couple of days including a trip to did the Thistlegorm which was fab.
So thanks for getting her through the referral program We had a great time diving together.
thanks

Hi Collin, just wanted to thank you for the support and time you put in to the IDC (especially it being your birthday). I enjoyed the course immensely and got a lot out of the experience.
I have just finished presenting an all day Nike Group Marketing Course to middle managers……… It started with this is what I going to tell you, I then told what I was going to tell them with anecdotal stories and then told them what I had told them with….. “so in summary we have looked at” —- read the slide objectives again………. I even managed to weave in a sales opportunity for a holiday in July to Marsa Alam and one/two possible takers to do open water finishing their open water dives on a Dive Crew holiday!!!! Thanks again Collin I do appreciate the professionalism, effort and fun you inject into my diving development.

We penned a letter that we would like to send up to Penny thanking Divecrew and Jason’s team for the excellent instruction, theory practical’s, shore side and in-water welfare.
Much thanks to Jason, what a top man. Thanks to Neal (Action man), Simon and assistants Dave and Dan… Really great team and made us all feel comfortable, especially as visibility was measured in cm!
There is much to be said for training with such a credible organisation “Divecrew” and PADI. We witnessed some hellish bad practices and health and safety issues from other attending schools whilst at Horsea. It cemented the best practices and the value of process and following an approved plan. To this end we are excited about extending our experience skills and accreditations with Divecrew. (Saving the pennies as we speak). Looking to buy kit this summer, with our own regulators, dive computers and BCD’s…. will pop in the shop again and review our shopping basket with you shortly.
Will definitely be at the social this evening.
Very best regards

Its was the other divers in the group that made it a special day, with everyone still chilled and chatting long after others had gone home.

I have now completed 9 dives since qualifying as an Open Water diver last September with Divecrew (including the qualifying dives), with a total of 6 and a half hours bottom time. I have recently been lucky enough to dive in Kaua’i, Hawaii and Cyprus and on both occasions the dive leaders commented that I was a very good diver from the way I conducted myself. I thought that I would pass this on to yourselves as this can only be due to the excellent tuition I received while training to be an Open Water diver with Divecrew.
So please can you pass on my enthusiastic thanks to my tutors Terry Sands (classroom), Barry Willcox (confined water), and Andy Collins (open water dives) who were all very patient and made the learning enjoyable. There were a few points when I wondered if I was going to make it through the course (the breathing from a free-flowing regulator being one of these!) but I made it and now have developed a love of swimming through caverns!
Many thanks

With the diversity of the EFR program it gives the lay instructor a lot of scope to work with which I think is a really good thing and helps EFR to stand ahead of the “crowd”. I’m now working on my family and friends to see if they would like a first aid course ;o)

Hi Collin,
I really enjoyed the Project aware/Coral conservation courses last night, gives you a lot to think about!

Hi Collin,
Thanks for last night….it was really interesting but also shocking when you realise how much damage mankind is doing to the planet. You can only hope that by educating people through courses like Project Aware, that we can start to make a difference. Everyone in my office has been given a few facts today to try and make them think a bit, so hopefully it’ll help a little.

Just managed to watch the video clip today and thought it was very professional and informative. It would really motivate me to do one of the courses if I hadn’t already and I am now really excited about my open water dives at the end of June at Horsea Island. What comes across very clearly in the video is that diving isn’t difficult and is a lot of fun – something almost everyone can do. Well done!
Many thanks
Rayne
Just received and reviewed the promo.
Great job. Being my field of business, media production and editing it is a fantastic “short” that promotes advertises and demonstrates clearly and concisely the benefits and enjoyment that can be gained through SCUBA.
A great promotional tool and one that puts Dive Crew in great stead to wave a proud flag for your organisation and affiliation to PADI.
Soon to take my 4 open water qualifiers in Horsea Island this June with our instructor Jason…. just watching the video makes me eager to wish the days away to enjoy and advance my skills.
Best regards to the team, see you all soon.

Thanks for a great weekend. Terry was a great instructor and has the patience of a saint!! I think we all found him and the course to be awesome!! Olly and I are really looking forward to the trip to Horsea Island now and are even discussing Diving being the focus of all our annual beach holidays! I think we are already hooked!
Thanks again and look forward to seeing you soon,

Just a quick line to say how enjoyable the full face mask workshop was last Thursday.
Andrew was a superb trainer, clearly explaining the differences in full face mask diving, demonstrating all the necessary techniques and putting me totally at ease. The experience felt very natural and in many ways, easier than a normal mask / regulator combo. I would recommend that all divers give this a go. I hope that the work shop becomes popular enough to allow Andrew the chance to set up a full speciality course with PADI.
Please pass on my thanks to Andrew for a very informative and enjoyable workshop.

Hello Collin
It’s very hard to believe, but I managed to get through it. Terry was absolutely fantastic and was such a kind and patient. He kept me going and encouraged me all the way through. I was so tired towards the end of module 4 and if it wasn’t for Terry I think I might just have given up. Having a private day was definitely the right way for me to do it – there was no pressure, which made all the difference. I was so excited after passing module 1 and clearing my mask I rang Simon. He’s thrilled…

Hi Collin
I just want to drop a line to say how great your Instructors are and that you really do have a fantastic bunch of people as Instructors/Assistant Instructors/Dive Masters.
Yesterday’s diving conditions were miserable! All the pleasure divers one way or another had their own issues to contend with & Andy was just so patient and great with all of us:-) We all agreed the diving conditions were not great, but we all put on a brave smile & had a fantastic time, out of the water if not in!!
Thanks for organising these trips and having nice, genuine people on board.
Kind regards

Big thank you to Kelly, Mark and Alan for giving up their time and looking after us in the water. Both got the bug big time now and cant wait for the advanced course on 8th March. Thanks again.

Hi Colin
Firstly, let me thank you for a fantastic evening at the Project AWARE speciality. It was also an added bonus to do the coral conservation speciality in the same programme. I’ve been looking forward to it ever since I received the superb manual back in November 07. It was certainly worth the wait! I believe the course should be of interest to all divers, and would also be a great way to tempt non divers in to discovering the delights of the aquatic world. Who knows, perhaps they will try a dive because of tacking it. It was also good to receive additional information and handouts on the night. This really added to the course. The new coral presentation looks fantastic – it’s cleared up a lot of the comments we made last night and adds a great deal of info into the life cycle of coral. Once again, thanks for a great night. Regards.

We would just like to thank you for a great Digital Photography course. We both really enjoyed both the theory and practical side and can now take good photographs with confidence. What a difference from the “point & shoot” approach where the pictures were often too green or blue and lacked proper focus. The pool session was really good fun, it’s nice to practice on something that doesn’t move before being let loose with a camera for real on holiday shortly. We are looking forward to comparing our results in the near future. This is a course that we would both recommend to anyone who wants to get the best out of their underwater camera. There is always something new to learn!
Thank you once again for yet another great Divecrew course.

Collin just wanted to thank you for a challenging but very rewarding Assistant Instructor course, we all felt that we learnt so much, helping to make us better divers! Having started to learn how to dive with Divecrew on my open water five years ago, every certification since (Advanced, Rescue, Divemaster, Wreck, Equipment, Nitrox, etc) has been with yourselves, there’s only one place where I want to continue my diving education. Divecrew has got it right; high standards, a great instruction and support team which creates a learning environment that is both challenging and fun. Dive on!!!

‘A brilliant weekend of diving at Vobster on the Navigation Course – Jason ably assisted by Chris and Simon made sure that we had a very challenging, yet highly enjoyable time. The visibility was so good you could see the surface from the Jonquil at 17.5 metres. Learnt a lot, great diving and Jim and I nailed our courses when we each navigated a set course. Big thank you to Jason and the team for the way they ran the course – absolutely brilliant!

What can I say? FABULOUS HOLIDAY!! But as we braced ourselves against temps of 3 degrees, snow and a power cut, not to mention emergency medical on call for the last 48h, I ask myself – was it all a dream??
Thank you both very much indeed for making our Bonaire dream come true and for being such buddies in every sense of the word. If by any chance any of this leaks out onto the Divecrew website surely surfers will think this has been solicited – no way! I challenge anybody to have a good time in Bonaire under your care and mentorship, or for that matter any other dive destination you may care to take us to.
With many happy memories and thanks again,

I would like to thanks yourself and Penny at the dive centre for your help but also on behalf of the team express our thanks for the guys at the weekend,Jason,Marni,Mark,Richard & Chris they are a credit to your dive school and for what the P in PADI stands for, it was not just my imagination but I felt more in touch with what I should be doing (please dont confuse that with being confident in everything i was doing) due totally to the Proffessional ,consistant and thoughtful way the team comunicated to us, we (in my opinion )as a dive school stood out as more organised than others around us.
I know it may seem gushy but I will and already have recommended you and your team to others.

I enjoyed the day as it was a good place to practice buoyancy control (being shallow doesn’t give much leeway for getting it wrong). Both my dive profiles are looking better already; only 3 little warnings blips of going up too quickly [140%] and my computer is set on the cautious side anyway! Also, I was nicely surprised at the amount of fish which were happy to let us be in their presence without darting off somewhere.
Thanks to Mark Leach for his guide duties and I was lucky enough to buddy him for the day.
Cheers … Jon

Hi Collin,
I just thought I would let you know what a fantastic time Alan and I had on the Wreck Speciality Course this weekend in Portland. We thoroughly enjoyed every dive and found out first hand how exciting and fascinating wreck penetration is. Barry gets a big ten out of ten for his professionalism, infectious enthusiasm for wreck diving and for giving us all plenty of safe and sensible advice and techniques for diving wrecks. The Countess of Erne is a very good choice of dive site for the course. There are plenty of interesting features and a good selection of marine wildlife. We all saw the resident triggerfish over the course of the weekend and I even saw a small squid on dive 1.
Reg, the skipper on the dive boat, made us feel very welcome and helped to ensure that my first experience of boat diving was a very enjoyable experience. His friendly banter and hot chocolate after every dive made a welcome addition to the weekend. A big thank you to all involved, this is one of the best courses that we have been on so far.

Hi Collin,
Just a quick note to say thanks for the Project Aware Specialty Course and the Beach Cleanup day on Chesil beach. We both thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Both myself and Caz are very interested in aquatic environmental issues and this course brought us a lot of knowledge and skills.
Combining this course with the Beach Cleanup gave the course the additional edge of “Diving with a purpose” – that being to clean up the beach both above water and below it. From what we’ve learnt we will pass this message on to other divers to help support Project AWARE and to become AWARE divers themselves.
Please pass on our thanks to Mia for the Specialty part of the course.
Best wishes

The Official PADI Card arrived today through the post and he is trilled to bits ( Some achievement at the age of 12)
So just to say a huge thanks to every one who guided him through at Slough pool/centre especially Colin and Terry.
I will send a photo to you next week and a copy of his pass certicate for your files and he would love to see himself on your webpage in the near future.
Thanks again for everything and we look forward to seeing you soon next year when Connor is 10.
Happy diving

Hello Collin.
I am writing to you to thank you and your team for the fantastic open water course that I have just completed.
I found Divecrew using the search facility on the PADI website. I am always wary of contacting a company for the first time in this way, as there is no way of knowing what the people or quality of service is like. However, I can genuinely say that on this occasion I do not feel that I could have done any better.
Penny was very helpful with my enquiries and bookings, and your welcome meeting left me feeling very excited about the course. I couldn’t wait to get started!
Terry’s classroom lessons were both interesting and informative, giving me a sound knowledge of the theory side of diving.
Barry’s pool lessons then built on that knowledge, again in a very professional and enthusiastic way. Thanks too to Ian, Stefan and Jim for their help in the pool.
I will confess to feeling a few nerves when arriving at Horsea for the open water dives, however, Tim and Ginny’s enthusiasm soon left me feeling at ease. The dives were conducted in a very professional way, but were a lot of fun at the same time. Kelly was a great help, as was Adrian, who kindly took time out to do shore cover for us.
Last, but by no means least, I would like to say a huge thank you to Alan and Caz. They were there helping out throughout the course, from the classroom and pool sessions right through to the open water dives! Nothing was too much effort, and the course would not have been the same without them!
I would not hesitate to recommend Divecrew to anyone in the future.
Thanks again to everybody, and I have no doubt that I will be seeing you all again soon, both at the socials and in the water!
Kind regards

Pleas pass on my thanks to the whole team involved in the course.

Please pass a big thanks to the TDM’s for giving there time to assist, they were always on hand with advise and assistance “Thanks guy’s all of you”. Barry:- Thanks for the pool work/skills, Ian and your efforts made the dives at Horsea much easier.
Thanks again to you all, I had a great time.

Hi Penny and Collin,
I just wanted to say thank you for the quality of the Open Water course you and your team provided me with earlier in the year. I’ve just got back from Mauritius and only managed to squeeze 4 dives into 2 weeks of lounging on the beech, but the confidence your instructors instilled in me greatly helped when rolling off the side of the boat for the fist time in very very choppy seas.
Many thanks again, hope to see you at a social event soon.

I spent a wonderful weekend in delightful company and I am thrilled to now hold an Advanced Open Water Qualification! What a pleasure it was to dive with so many gentlemen divers from Divecrew over the weekend who assisted me with my rather ungainly entries to and exits from the water at Chesil Beach. There is a definite skill in that but it is worth it for the dives!! Many thanks to Jason for organising all the dives (particularly the two where we actually had good visibility on Chesil Beach) and making the weekend such fun, and also to Mark, John and Dave for assisting so well. It was also a pleasure to meet and dive with my fellow students, Sarah, Kerry, John and Nick. I wish them all every success in their continued diving experiences.

Dear Penny and Collin
I just thought I would write to say how impressed I am with Divecrew’s PADI Open Water course I attended this last weekend at Horsea. With two instructors and three Dive Masters assisting for a class size of five students I was genuinely pleased with the level of attention given. The equipment was first rate and the focus on practicing again and again kitting up correctly and being safe was excellent. Nina, who lead the class, was clear, helpful, polite and patient in equal measure (!), and Polly, Sam, Richard, Jim and Rowland were all marvelously helpful. The whole event was exhausting but exhilarating too and upon qualifying, ultimately rewarding.
Thank you very much again Best wishes.

On behalf of both Felicity and myself, I’d just like to say a big thank you to one and all who helped us complete our open water course this weekend at Horsea Island.
A special thank you to our instructor Terry who made the dive instructions as clear as can be, but also a big thank you to Mia, Martin, Kelly, Steve, Richard and special thank you to Jennie for buddying with Felicity on both days. Their dedication and professionalism is a credit to you, making this an informative yet fun weekend.
We both hope to see you all very soon in the water. David and Felicity
Just wanted to say a big thank you to all involved in helping us to pass our Open Water dives on the 18th and 19th August. It was a drab, cold, miserable two days for getting changed outside, but Terry (Top man) and the TDM’s pulled together to make it an enjoyable event at Horsea, even if we couldn’t see beyond a metre!! No doubt it will make diving in clearer waters in future easier and more enjoyable. I would say its a great way to learn as it pushes you further than perhaps crystal clear tropics does…..
Thanks again, I’ll hopefully see you all again sometime soon, but that depends on the visibility!!
Cheers

So once again thanks very much I really enjoyed the weekend, but not the sodding weather – I hope Paul has dried out he did a brilliant job for us over the two days.
