Thoughts of Nicky Roach IDC candidate

As I sit here (hoping that my kit will dry out) in the brief lull between the IDC/MSDT and the IE I have a time to reflect on what has been a truly fantastic time.

As with anything there was quite of bit of theory and lectures to get through but with practical sessions in the pool and at Wraysbury there was plenty of time to get out and about. Very intensive though.

Certainly tripping! over the PADI standards on more than one occasion got me down, but Collin soon had me moving me forward again. I may not be a model student but Collin’s support has been amazing throughout.

MSDT over the last 3 days was even better – with loads more diving and therefore I felt I was learning more about instructing. We had a long day at Stoney benefitting from Collin and Penny’s experience, my first time there and now my deepest dive in the UK. And then yesterday diving at Vobster with our fearless course director having a freeflow at 28m while pretending to be a student. A gentle reminder about what we have got ourselves into!

I have learnt loads and although am still a little apprehensive about the IE on the weekend I am really looking forward to hopefully being able to start teaching soon.
